Personal Trainers Improving Health In The Community
When I was coaching I remember being invited to the local coffee mornings at our village hall with a fitness instructor friend and giving advice to the (mostly older) attendees on exercise, nutrition, wellness, etc.
The great thing about this, apart from the free cups of tea, was seeing the big improvements everyone made with really quite minimal lifestyle changes.
Having support from their friends and family was a factor but small interventions, such as local group walking programs, fitness classes in the community hall, supermarket tours / explaining nutrition labels, discussing smoking experiences (older smokers would warn youngsters about the hazards) really made a difference.
The changes were easy to adopt and maintain in their existing lifestyles so most stuck, my fitness instructor friend kept her classes full and people continue to see the benefits to this day.
